The Church has threatened to cancel the Marsa Holy Trinity feast celebrations if a new organisation is set up to hold external activities related to the feast.

The feast is normally celebrated in June.

In a strongly worded statement, the Church said that for a number of years the organisation which deals with the external activities of the Holy Trinity feast in Marsa was not operating in a satisfactory manner as it was ignoring the instructions of the parish priest.

To remedy the situation, the Curia had proposed establishing a new statute for this organisation. However, the Church noted that the organisation had ignored the statute and appointed a new committee without the participation of the parish priest.

The Curia said that due to this behaviour, the parish priest, acting according to instructions given by the Church, has dissolved the organisation and it is no longer recognised by the Church authorities.

The Church warned that the members of the organisation had no authorisation to collect money on behalf of the parish church.

It said that if a new organisation was set up or if this organisation held any external activities during the feast, the Curia would be left with no option but to cancel the celebrations.
