The ambulance fleet at St Luke's Hospital was boosted yesterday with four new vehicles, bringing the total to 20, the government said.

Each costing Lm25,000, three of the ambulances were bought by the Health Ministry while the other one was paid for from a donation by the Maria Bugeja Cancer Support Foundation.

This payment of Lm25,000 forms part of a Lm115,000 donation the foundation is making to the government following an agreement signed between the foundation and the Director General, Health on how the sum was to be spent.

The donation will also go to pay for an incubator to be used when babies are taken abroad and to buy the equipment for the blood cross match laboratory for Mater Dei Hospital.
