A magistrate has found there are enough reasons for the indictment of a Cospicua man charged with the attempted murder of the boyfriend of his late brother's former partner.

Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima ruled for the indictment of Ronnie Azzopardi, the brother of Jason Azzopardi, who was murdered in October, 2001, after hearing how the incident was connected to a dispute over Jason Azzopardi's inheritance.

Azzopardi, 31, is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Kevin Attard, the boyfriend of Jason Azzopardi's partner, by firing a gun in his direction in Cospicua on Wednesday.

He is also pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Josef Tabone, who was with Attard at the time of the incident, the possession of a firearm and ammunition at the time of the commission of the crime and without a licence and causing over Lm500 damage to two cars that were parked in the area during the shooting incident.

Azzopardi was granted bail against a Lm2,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm10,000.

Police Inspectors Jeffrey Cilia and Anthony Cassar are prosecuting while Dr Joseph Giglio is appearing for Azzopardi.
