The winners of the Skål Malta Tourism Awards 2003 were recently announced during a gala dinner at the Westin Dragonara Resort.
Eight companies won the coveted awards in as many categories of activity in the travel and tourism industry. The academic and professional category was won by the Institute of English Language Studies (IELS).
The winners received a beautiful trophy designed specially for the occasion by Phoenician Glassblowers, one of the main sponsors.
IELS, founded in 1985, offers various programmes for adults, with a comprehensive range of English courses, including Business English, Private Tuition and Preparation courses for Cambridge (CPE, CAE, FCE) and IELS examinations.
The main school premises, which comprise the administration area, teaching centre, bookshop and cafeteria, is fully air-conditioned and centrally located in Sliema.
IELS operates a summer school in Gzira for teenage students (aged 14-18).
A second adult school in Gozo is open from May to October. Extensive leisure programmes are offered for both adults and teenagers. A varied choice of accommodation from host families, student residence, and apartments to a selection of hotels is available in Malta and Gozo.
IELS is recognised by the Department of Education and is a full member of FELTOM (Federation of English Language Teaching Oraganisations Malta).
