President Guido de Marco yesterday chaired the fourth meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) being held in Romania, following a formal invitation from WIPO director general Kamil Idris.

The conference was inaugurated by Prof. de Marco and Romanian President Ion Iliescu.

Among the distinguished guests present for the meeting, is the former President of Bulgaria, Peter Stoyanov.

President Iliescu said that following the successful political reforms in his country, it was now essential for wide economical restructuring to be undertaken at all levels.

WIPO is a specialised agency of the United Nations Organisation with a mandate to administer intellectual property matters, such as international treaties as well as assisting governments and other organisations in this field.
