Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera yesterday sentenced a 26-year-old man from Mosta to two years imprisonment suspended for four years after finding him guilty of theft charges.

Nicholas Agius was also placed on probation for four years.

He was charged with having committed a series of thefts of Hi-Fi equipment, telecards, cash and a video recorder from a number of localities in August, 2000.

He admitted to the charges of theft last October.

After hearing that the accused was undergoing a rehabilitation programme under the care of a probation officer, the court ruled that a suspended sentence would be appropriate in this particular case.
