Electric cars join Maltacom fleet

Maltacom yesterday introduced two electric cars into its fleet in a bid to do its bit for the environment.

The Reva cars were imported by Future Cars Ltd, part of the Merlin Group of Companies.

The Reva Electric Car Company was incorporated in 1995 as a joint venture between the Bangalore-based Maini Group and AEVT Inc of Irvindale, California.

The car heralds a new era of non-polluting, cost effective, quiet city mobility. It has a range of 80 kilometres in stop-and-go city driving and a top speed of 65 kilometres per hour.

The basic car model costs Lm5,500.

The running cost of the Reva is a fifth that of a conventional vehicle.
