I refer to the various letters appearing on November 7, regarding the Maltese flag.

The George Cross was awarded to the Maltese people for the bravery they showed during World War Two. It is indeed an honour to the Maltese people to receive such an award which, I am sure, is greatly treasured in a museum. But what significance does it have on the Maltese flag? A flag representing a country should display something which directly relates to that country.

In a few letters it was pointed out that countries like Australia have the Union Jack on their flag. Australia is still part of the British Empire.
