European City Guide - scam industry

Although this is a traders' issue, we have covered it quite intensively in this column and we will continue informing traders about developments. This is in line with our policy to enhance the relationship/rapport between traders and consumers. When it comes to such scams, we must work together.

Unfortunately, regarding this issue, there are still many traders who are concerned about receiving bills, reminders, and threats. However they can set their minds at rest. We are informed that the European City Guide (ECG) have finally found some real resistance and may be closed down. This is explained in detail in the Website www.stopecg.org.

As I explained on numerous occasions in this column, the most effective way of dealing with ECG threats is not to accede to any demand they make on payment. "Never pay a penny" is one of the clear messages in www.stopecg.org and: "There may be times when they lay on the pressure and you feel like giving in, but remember, they will use your money to put others through the same hell. Please do not give them that opportunity!"

This site has grown to cover many scam guides and directories that use deceptively worded contracts to ensnare people. There are addresses of other sites set up for the benefit of those "who have been duped". One can get free support for those who have become embroiled. There are many useful tips about:

Finally, I must repeat that, when it comes to scams, we must work together and change the negative aspect of such issues into a positive aspect with a view to enhancing our marketplace.
