A 21-year-old man was yesterday charged with hindering enforcement officers of the Malta Environment and Planning Authority and police officers from carrying out their duties at a scrapyard in Hal Far on Thursday.

Joseph Zahra was also charged with threatening and assaulting the officials, disobeying the police, possession of a firearm without a licence, uttering obscene words in public when under the influence of alcohol, breaching the peace and relapsing.

Zahra pleaded not guilty to all charges and was remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Alexander Paul Miruzzi prosecuted.
