The award-winning film The Piano Teacher is being shown in Malta as from tomorrow at St James Cavalier in Valletta.
This is the first time that the film, which won the Cannes Film Festival 2001, is being screened in Malta.
Adapted from Elfriede Jelinek's novel The Piano Teacher, the film is a stunning look at how a middle-aged woman, a piano professor at the Vienna Music Conservatory, is gradually self-destructing.
It won Best Actor and Best Actress Awards and the Grand Prize of the Jury at Cannes, and also won Best Actress at the European Film Award 2001.
It is distributed by KRS Film Distributors and is in French with English subtitles.
Directed by Michael Haneke, it stars Annie Girardot, Benoit Magimel and Isabelle Huppert.
