Why has this very respectable form of funeral never been adopted in Malta? The situation on the island, due to the lack of burial space, has surely made crematoriums a viable solution to the problem.

Anyone who has attended the burial of a friend or loved one and experienced the lack of respect shown to the deceased and mourners during the burial ceremony might agree to cremation as an alternative.

This would also help the less fortunate, who have no family grave in their local cemetery, from experiencing the very distressing and archaic tradition of exhumation after a period of years to make room for other deceased persons.

I do not know if the Catholic church is opposed to this type of funeral, if so, consideration should be made for non-Catholics who wish to choose an alternative funeral arrangement.
