Malta International Choir Festival

Fifteen male, female and mixed choirs will be taking part in the 15th Malta International Choir Festival at the Mediterranean Conference Centre between November 11-14 daily at 7 p.m.

The choirs are from the UK, Germany, Ukraine, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Romania, Macedonia, US, Latvia, and Malta, the Malta Tourism Authority, which organises the festival, said.

There are various trophies to be won as well as €10,000 in cash prizes. The first prize for the winning choir is €5,000.

Three judges from Wales, Russia and the Czech Republic will be sitting on the adjudicating panel, which will be chaired by the festival's music adviser, Fr John Galea.

There will be a musical entertainment break where Maltese artists will entertain the audience.

During the final evening the Yada Dance Company will be performing a 25-minute dance programme. The compere for the four evenings will be actor Edward Mercieca.

Tickets for the festival are available from the MTA's head office at the Auberge d'Italie, Merchants Street, Valletta, as from Monday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or from the entrance of the Mediterranean Conference Centre one hour before the performances.

Tickets for the semi-final evenings cost Lm3 while tickets for the final night cost Lm5.

A comprehensive Lm8 ticket will entitle one to attend all of the semi-finals as well as the final evening.
