Joseph Vella, bartender at Sol Suncrest Hotel in Qawra has received the "Employee of the Month" award in recognition of his professionalism towards the hotel's clients, as well as his positive attitude and diligence at work.

He was handed the award by Sol Suncrest's chief executive George Schembri.

Mr Vella joined the company in 1989 as a commis bar waiter. He was promoted to bars waiter in 1991, bartender II in 1992 and to his present position of bartender I in 1995.

In 1993, he won a silver medal when representing the hotel in the Salon Culinaire International De Malte competition with his cocktail "Green Lagoon".
