Last Wednesday Anton Borg, president of the Malta Federation of Industry (FOI), and Rémy Robinet-Duffo, president of the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF Paris), signed a co-operation agreement in the presence of Finance Minister John Dalli, the Maltese Ambassador to France, Professor Salvino Busuttil, and MFSA chairman Professor Joseph Bannister.
This ceremony took place following presentations delivered at a well-attended business breakfast held in a Paris hotel, to publicise the attractiveness of investing in Malta's manufacturing, and financial services sectors. The event was organised by the Malta Enterprise Paris office, in collaboration with MEDEF Paris and the Paris Chamber of Commerce.
The co-operation agreement signed by the FOI and MEDEF Paris signifies the determination of both organisations to collaborate in a bid to strengthen the economic and trade relations between Malta and Paris in preparation for new opportunities that will be available in the single market in which Malta will participate in when it joins the European Union next May.
The federation has signed this agreement in the firm belief that it could help to enhance existing commercial and trade investment exchanges with the French capital by encouraging and assisting Malta-based enterprises to find new business through the FOI's strengthened connections. The FOI is also eager to serve as a point of reference for potential Paris investors interested in new ventures in Malta.
