President Anton Borg led an FOI delegation at a meeting with Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment Mr George Pullicino on October 17.

Issues relating to the pork and poultry processing sectors, wine producing sector, as well as environment-related issues, were discussed at this meeting, while the FOI officials also highlighted its members' concerns on aspects like the safeguard clause, pre-accession funding and the possibility of consultative committees for the different sectors.

At this meeting the minister was accompanied by the permanent secretary at the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment, Dr Philip von Brockdorff. The FOI delegation included vice-president Joe Pace, council member and environment committee chairman Godwin C. Micallef, director general Edwin Calleja and executive Cecilia Vella.
