The National Archives of Malta is organising the first Archive Awareness Week between tomorrow and Sunday. The aim is to raise awareness among the public and decision-makers on the importance of archives to the nation's history. This year' s theme is "Preserve to Serve".

On Tuesday at 6.30 p.m., President de Marco will deliver the National Archives annual public lecture on The importance of records of public personalities for the history of the Nation at the National Archives of Malta, Santo Spirito, Hospital Street, Rabat.

On Wednesday at 6.30 p.m., the head of the National Archives, Charles J. Farrugia, in collaboration with the Friends of the National Archives, will launch the Memorial Micro-filming Project at the National Archives.

On Sunday there will be an open day at the National Archives. This is an excellent opportunity for the public to go on a guided tour, see the microfilming process and have see a selection of historical photos. Visitors will also be able to buy books and souvenirs from the Friends Book Fair. The day will also feature a photographic exhibition by Tony S. Mangion.
