Top Danish coaches, Peter Mouritsen and Thomas Frej are currently in Malta conducting a week-long training camp for promising players and coaches at the Badminton Association.
The camp is being held mainly at St Martin's College, Swatar. The Danish coaches' visit forms part of a four-year assistance and co-operation project, which the association has undertaken together with the European Badminton Union (EBU) for the further development of the game in Malta.
The project envisages regular periodic visits by Mouritsen, who was already in Malta for a similar training camp in November. He will continue to provide players and coaches with valuable insight into modern playing and coaching techniques.
Mouritsen was trained as an elite coach at the Danish Coaching School in Aalborg. From 1999 to 2001, he formed part of the coaching staff of Team Denmark, training the elite players in Odense. He is currently the senior coach at the Badminton Summer School, run annually by the EBU.
A Badminton Association statement said these training camps show the organisation's commitment to the continued development of its players and coaches. They also thanked the EBU as well as St Martin's College for their support.
