The Sunflower Hotel, in Qawra, which opened officially in May this year, was awarded hospitality assured accreditation following an assessment carried out last September.

Accreditation was also renewed for Hotel Santana, the Sunflower's 4-star sister hotel, for third consecutive year since its initial accreditation in 2001.

The hospitality assured award, which was developed by the HCIMA (Hotel and Catering International Management Association), is an international award which recognises and rewards high standards of customer service in the hospitality industry.

In June 2000 the Malta Tourism Authority launched the HCIMA-led hospitality assured as part of its strategic plan for 2000-2002.
