Hats off to the duty manager at gate eight in the departure lounge of the airport on the night of September 5 for the flight to Cork.
I noticed some liquid and broken glass, most probably dropped by an irresponsible person waiting for his flight. I told the duty manager about it and he was on the phone immediately. Five minutes later two cleaning ladies came along with a trolley and commenced to dry the floor with a floorcloth and no protection to their hands.
It was a disappointment, to say the least, seeing these hard working cleaning ladies on their hands and knees when in this day and age there is what is called a squeezy mop, which can do the work in drying and cleaning without one having to go on hands and knees.
While on the subject of airport and flights, may I ask Air Malta to please include a "whistle" attached on the life jackets on their aircraft. Most of us have seen the film Titanic and it was the humble whistle that saved the young lady's life in the story.
After all most airlines have a whistle attached to the life jackets, so why not Air Malta? One should be at sea in fog to realise to what extent sound is of great assistance.
