Big drugs haul in Tarxien

A small drugs find led police to a much larger haul yesterday afternoon, when they seized a kilo of heroin and half a kilo of cocaine from a garage in Tarxien.

On Sunday, the police had seized about 130 grammes of heroin from a garage in the same town, and arrested a 32-year-old man, also from Tarxien, in connection with the find.

The police said yesterday's seizure, which they described as a large one, followed further investigation into Sunday's find led by Inspector Neil Harrison from the Drug Squad.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman is conducting an inquiry, assisted by experts.
