A number of racing pigeons released for training from Delimara yesterday were shot, pigeon racer Etienne Rapinett said.

Of the 30 pigeons that he was training yesterday, 10 returned wounded and covered in blood. Pigeons belonging to other racers did not return either and are presumed dead.

The training season started two weeks ago and pigeons being released from Cirkewwa did not meet the same fate, Mr Rapinett added.
