The Malta Tourism Authority welcomed the proposed shuttle service from the cruise passenger terminal to Valletta.

The MTA believes that such a service, as well as the proposed lift to the Upper Barrakka, was of utmost importance if Malta was to become a more attractive port of call for cruise liners.

It said that providing the widest possible choice for transport to Valletta increased demand for the destination.

The MTA said the interests and concerns of particular groups should be taken into account but, ultimately, it was the interest of the tourism industry as a whole which should take priority.

The MTA has no doubt that the shuttle service between the cruise passenger terminal and Valletta was in the best interest of the tourism industry and, therefore, urged the government and the Malta Transport Authority to proceed with the introduction of the shuttle service without delay.
