Mosta drainage overflow

I refer to the letters by Joseph Agius and Rachel Agius, (October 8 and 9 respectively). Both these letters referred to the recent drainage overflow problem in the Mosta Fort area.

The extremely heavy rainfalls that Malta had some weeks ago damaged the drainage system in several locations around the Maltese islands. Pieces of rock and other material were washed by this rain, consequently ending up in the drainage system, blocking it. In fact, Water Services Corporation employees are still working to clear all the debris from this system.

One of these damaged systems was the one near Mosta valley. Works to clear this tunnel were expected to be completed by last Friday. It is important to note that, under such circumstances, the health and safety of the employees clearing these tunnels is given priority over the time taken to resolve the problem.
