Illegal employment

A total 125 persons were found working illegally while registering for employment between January and July.

Education Minister Louis Galea told Labour MP Carmelo Abela in reply to a parliamentary question that the Employment and Training Corporation informed the police of every case for action to be taken. It fined the employers for employing the workers without the necessary permit.

Besides the 125, there were other cases where the police themselves caught foreign workers working illegally but ETC officials were not involved.
