Volksbank Malta Limited recently donated two complete computer systems to Eden Foundation, the organisation for the education of people with developmental disabilities.

"The computer department was established six years ago to teach computer literacy to people with special needs," Eden's IT department spokesman David Vassallo explained at the presentation.

"It was the first institution which embarked on such a project in Malta, teaching anything from simple mouse handling courses to office packages, use of internet, electronic mail and touch typing skills.

"Other courses include activities in computer use as a means of communication for those students with specific communication and interaction limitations."

Eden founder Josie Muscat said the additional computer systems would give more opportunities to people with developmental disabilities, to help include them into mainstream education, employment and leisure activities.
