The Gatorade Malta Open championships come to a close this afternoon at the Marsa Sports Club when the two singles finals are played.

First on court will be the two finalists from the ladies' event at 4 p.m. when Sarah Wetz will be testing her wits against the more experienced Lisa Camenzuli.

This contest will be followed by the men's singles final. Here, top seed Mark Schembri is expected to face a stiff challenge from national squad colleague Matthew Debono whose presence at this stage of the competition will surely award him with enough points to move up the rankings ladder.

In Friday's semi-finals, Schembri eliminated Daryl Delicata 6-2 6-1 and Debono beat Daryl's brother, Marcus, in straight sets 6-4 6-4.

Meanwhile, the men's doubles final yesterday had to be postponed after one of the players in the final, Daryl Delicata, sustained an injury during play on Friday. He was supposed to partner Marcus in the match against Asciak duo Gordon and Matthew.
