Mr James Mizzi (The Sunday Times, October 5), said that Melita Cable is transmitting EWTN on a 24-hour basis. Perhaps this gentleman has a unique and personal package from Melita! No one else can view EWTN via Melita on a 24-hour basis.

For Mr Mizzi's information, Melita transmits EWTN from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. the following day i.e. part-time overnight; the other hours are taken up on the same channel by SAT2000, an Italian Catholic station.

I assure him that not a single EWTN follower was angry at him when EWTN followers "put pen to paper". They were not angry at anybody but certainly very disappointed at the attitude Melita Cable had taken with regard to their wishes.

We need to respect each other's views on the various TV channels dedicated to the evangelisation of God's Word. But for goodness' sake let us be aware and knowledgeable about the origins of these channels. Let us seek more those Catholic channels that are genuinely transmitting "the splendour of Truth" and not just "continue with the indoctrination".

It is very opportune to again remind Melita Cable that many - including myself - are still awaiting answers to my various correspondence over the past two years, in this paper, on the subject of EWTN around the clock. In a weekly column of another paper, it was mentioned that there was to be a channel dedicated wholly to EWTN.

It has been heard that the head of programmes at Melita has been replaced. Perhaps new plans can now be introduced and efforts made to keep to Melita's motto - "the number one priority has always been the client"!
