Automated homes are not just the stuff of futuristic science fiction. We can live in them today.

Smart homes that automate most electrical and control devices are rapidly defining a new lifestyle. Today's technology allows unprecedented, simple control of appliances throughout the house, vastly enhancing the convenience of everyday tasks and creating more enjoyable and safer environments.

Homes that seamlessly combine audio, video, lighting and computing are the future of the way we live, but they are available now.

Smart homes are intelligent - they allow you to control what you want, when you want, how you want, simply at a touch of a button. Symfony's integrated systems are unparallelled in Malta and the rest of Europe.

They allow you to automatically dim the lights, draw the curtains, play music, put on a DVD, access the Internet adjust the heating or air conditioning throughout the house, and set your security system from the palm of your hand.

Symfony's Smart Home technology allows you to store hundreds of movies and thousands music tracks for instant playback in a shared archive.

In the Smart Home all members of the household can play their choice of DVD or music at the same time in separate rooms, including the bathroom. The volume and level of playback quality is the individual's choice.

For a night-at-the-movies experience a room can become a dedicated home cinema with the highest quality projection or plasma systems.

In a Symfony Smart Home, you can use the lighting to set the right mood in any room either automatically or on demand. Switch on the hall lights before you arrive home, for instance, or switch every light off when you are in bed.

Link your lighting to the audio and video systems and your lights will dim automatically just as your DVD starts to play. You can watch any video source from DVD, VHS, satellite and CCTV on any screen in the house.

So if you are watching a DVD in your living room and you want to check on your baby sleeping upstairs, you can do that through your living room screen.

Symfony Smart Homes have sophisticated security measures that defy would-be burglars. The systems are totally integrated to offer greater convenience and security levels than ever before.

When you leave your home you simply push a single button or swipe a smart card (similar to a credit card) through a control panel to turn down the heating or the air-conditioning, switch off unnecessary lighting and any other devices connected to the smart system, and to automatically set your security alarm and surveillance system.

If you link your lighting to the security system, you can create a realistic impression of being at home when you are away. What you do is set your home automation system to record the way you use the lights over a period of, say, a week.

When you go away, your home automation system will recreate the same pattern, switching your lights on and off at different times to make it seem as though you are at home. This is a far more sophisticated system than using a timer switch to, say, turn on your living room light in the evening.

If you suspect that something suspicious is going on in your home, the best way to reassure yourself is to look in and see for yourself what is happening.

Symfony helps you do that whether you are at home or far away. With a bespoke Symfony system, you can view any part of your home through your mobile phone and you can control your security system whether you are across the hallway, across the island or across the world.

If your bespoke Symfony Smart Home detects a break in, it will alert you of the event, take pictures of the intruder and record them onto a hard disk and automatically switch on the lights or blast music throughout the house, possibly scaring off the burglar.

Using an integrated Internet facility, a Symfony Smart Home will show you what's happening through a PC, Web pad or a mobile phone no matter how far from home you are.

This facility will help you to verify whether a break-in has actually occurred, saving you the trouble of going back home only to find that there was a false alarm.

If there is an actual break in, you can warn off the intruder yourself by calling your home audio system through your mobile phone.

These and other Symfony Smart Home facilities not only change the environment of your home, but they can also create a life style that's enjoyable, comfortable and easier than the traditional living that we know.

Symfony's home automation systems come in a variety of packages tailored or in bespoke systems tailored to suit the individual.
