A Libyan prison inmate was yesterday jailed for 13 months for escaping from St Luke's Hospital on Friday.

Hadi Mohammed Alsnussi Alabyad, 35, pleaded guilty to the escape and to assaulting a public officer on Monday.

On handing down judgment, Magistrate Giovanni Grixti noted that Alabyad (who was in police custody because he was denied bail in a separate, pending court case) had a clean criminal record and had filed an early guilty plea.
