The Water Services Corporation is introducing a computerised system for recording water and electricity meter readings which will allow verification on site.

However, difficulties encountered in the initial installation phase of this system have given rise to delays in the collection of meter readings in certain localities.

Meter readings will be entered directly into a hand-held computer carried by the meter reader.

The consumer will be immediately informed of the meter readings and the consumption since the last reading. It will be immediately obvious whether consumption is normal or below or above average. This will allow the consumer to take immediate action in case of high consumption, the WSC said.

While apologising for any inconveniences caused, WSC assured customers that meter readings in the affected localities has now resumed and they were expected to be complete in the coming weeks.

Initially, this system was being introduced in Birkirkara, Mosta, Senglea, San Gwann, Safi, Kirkop, Naxxar, Paola, Balzan, Zabbar, Cospicua, Luqa, Zurrieq, Qrendi, Mqabba, Fgura and Tarxien.
