Jurors in the attempted murder trial of Emanuel Zammit are expected to start deliberating on their verdict today.

Mr Zammit, 65, of Cospicua is pleading not guilty to the attempted murder of Michael Angelo Fenech, also known as Il-Kelly, in Madliena on February 23, 1998.

He is also pleading not guilty to stealing court exhibits, including a sub-machine gun, from the strong room at the law courts on the night of September 18, 1993.

Mr Justice Geoffrey Valenzia started the summing up yesterday afternoon after lawyer Emanuel Mallia, for Zammit, concluded the rejoinder in his client's defence.
