A St Paul's Bay man of Egyptian origin was yesterday put on probation for two years for making use of his neighbour's telephone line to make overseas phone calls.

Ahmed Wahad Kamel Ahmed Fathalla, 29, pleaded guilty to the fraudulent access of his neighbour's line to make phone calls to Egypt between September 21 and October 4.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti noted that Fathalla had a clean criminal record, had filed a guilty plea at an early stage of the proceedings, cooperated with police and declared his intentions to refund his neighbour.
