I am sure there are many other people wondering, just as I am, why it is that the Water Services Corporation finds it impossible to read our water and electricity meters on a regular basis.
As of September 26, our meters have not been read for six months. If you call the meter readings office then it is nothing to do with them.
You cannot give them a reading either as the meter reader has not actually been and has not left a slip for our being out.
If you ring the meter readers office, a lady politely informs you that the meters are read every four months, perhaps not exactly four months but about.
Why is it that the meters cannot be read regularly? It cannot be for lack of manpower. I well remember one occasion at the top of Tumas Fenech Street when a half metre trench was dug and there were three vehicles and 13 men "working" on it.
The WSC expects prompt payment of bills on time, no matter how much they are, or else!
So the customers too have a right to expect the WSC to provide them with regular readings on time as it helps them to plan their finances.
