An exhibition of paintings by Valerie Visanich and David Bonello is being held at the VGB Art Gallery, Republic Street, Valletta, until October 18.
Painting in vibrant impasto colours and experimenting with techniques were always of paramount interest for Ms Visanich. She shows a special interest in Impressionist and Cubist artists in whom their influence is captured in her works.
She studied social sciences at the University of Rotterdam, The Netherlands, as part of the European Union Programme. She also graduated in sociology and is currently reading a Masters degree focusing on the sociology of art.
Mr Bonello's interest in art dates back to his schooldays when he showed an inclination to painting using different media.
He primarily focused his artistic career in painting on pottery and later to painting using oils as a primary medium on canvas.
Mr Bonello is actually self-taught, depending on art books for his guidance and on the advice of local artists. Most of his works focus on nature and landscape. The weaving of colours is of prime importance in his works of art, as well as his study for detail of birds and flowers.
