The Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism, under the auspices of the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), is organising 'An Introduction to Reporting Financial Services - a Seminar for Financial Journalists and Media Contributors'.
It is a well-established fact that Malta's financial services industry is playing an increasingly important role in the national economy and in the personal economies of tens of thousands of Maltese families.
Across the world, and Malta is no exception, media audiences expect local, regional and international media to be well informed about business, economic and personal finance matters.
This seminar, the first of two, with the second one, a follow-up, scheduled for January 2004, is designed to give local journalists a comprehensive foundation level introduction to financial services. It also looks at how the media relates to the law and to the financial services regulatory system.
The first two sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday, November 6 and 7, at St James Cavalier, Valletta.
The seminar is aimed at journalists and contributors to the media on financial matters, final year students of the Communications course at the University of Malta, those following the Master's degree in Journalism and Public Relations or media officers of financial institutions.
There will be a Lm15 fee for the two sessions (November and January). Students will be exempt from this fee. Those wishing to attend should contact:
Mr Mario Schiavone, administrator, Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism, on e-mail: masdan@onvol.net.
Applications will be received until Friday, October 17.
