Christian to sing in Macedonia

Nine-year-old Gozitan singer Christian Grech, who has already made quite a name for himself, hails from Munxar. He started his singing career at the tender age of five, since then he has taken part in various festivals in Malta and Gozo, winning almost all of them.

Christian, who attends the Bishop's Conservatory Primary School in Victoria, frequents the Gozo School of Music, where he is studying the violin and theory of music. He plays the violin in concerts and plays with his sister Gabriella on the piano.

Last November, Christian took part in the prestigious Zecchino D'Oro festival in Bologna, Italy, organised annually by the Antoniano. He gave an excellent performance of the song Violino mio, and was highly praised by the Maltese and Italian public.

In May, Christian and his sister Gabriella participated in an international song festival in Romania, where he was awarded a special prize by the Press.

His latest musical tour was in Ragusa, Sicily, where he was invited to take part as a guest singer in the Galassia di Chicco e Doretta festival. He was the only foreign singer in this concert. He was accompanied by the 11 children's choirs invited in this festival, which were combined into a 250-strong choir.

In July Christian sang with an Italian choir, Coro Mariele Ventre di Ragusa, during an open-air concert on Munxar Square.

Christian has now been chosen to sing and represent Malta in another international festival, Asterisks, to be held in Macedonia in the last week of October. He will sing the song Kif Int?, composed by Mro Sammy Galea with lyrics by his wife Doreen. The musical arrangement and the recording of this song were made at the Estrada Multimedia Centre of Macedonia. Mro Galea and Christian's father will accompany Christian in Macedona.
