Reinforced rubble walls

Rubble walls in Chadwick Lakes reinforced with a metal network had survived the floods while others which were not had collapsed, the Labour Party's spokesman for rural development, Noel Farrugia, said yesterday.

Speaking during a tour of the area yesterday, he said the nets, known as gabbjoli, were erected as part of a project initiated by the Labour government of 1996-98 but dropped by the Nationalist administration.
