Malta will be able to establish its allowable blue fin tuna catch at the next meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).
After the approval by the Maltese parliament earlier this year, Malta has been accepted as a member of ICCAT.
This means Malta will participate for the first time as a full contracting party of ICCAT at its forthcoming meeting to be held in Dublin, Ireland in November.
Malta will discuss its catch allocation of blue fin tuna and take part in the decision-making process on the conservation measures to be adopted to safeguard highly migratory pelagic fish stocks.
