Authorities blamed

Floriana local council has pinned the blame on the authorities for the cancellation of activities in St Anne's Street and square on car free day last Monday.

In a statement, the council said it was forced to put a lid on all planned activities after the authorities decided to open part of the road to traffic without any consultation.

The council held that it was not prepared to expose participants to any possible accidents and bus fumes, since this actually contradicted the scope behind car free day.

The Environment Ministry, the Police Commissioner and the Transport Authority were censured by the local council for "disappointing" Floriana residents.
