Meeting Maltese citizens in Western Australia

A recent visit to Perth offered NCW's president the opportunity to meet Maltese representatives of different organisations living in Western Australia.

Jim Vella, president of the Maltese Association of Western Australia, Paul Calleja, editor of the Malta Professional and Business Association (MPBA) newsletter and some friends welcomed Ms Attard and invited her to visit the new Maltese Community Centre in Bassendean.

Members of the MPBA, including Louise Vella, president, Mary-Lou Ruhen and Dr Paul Psaila Savona and many others gave Ms Attard a warm welcome and invited her to dine with them in one of the traditional waterway restaurants in Fremantle.

Ms Attard also met Professor David Plowman, president of the Child Migrants of Malta, who spoke about the Maltese Child Migrant monument to be erected in Fremantle and Malta, in recognition of Maltese child migrants of Western and South Australia.
