Councils call for action to prevent flooding

The local councils of Qormi and Marsa have called on the government to take action to prevent a repeat of last week's flooding.
Addressing a news conference at Xatt il-Mollijiet in Marsa, Qormi mayor Roderick Galdes and Marsa mayor Francis Debono said the authorities should ensure that storm water would flow easily.
It was clear, they said, that the water canal at the Marsa Sports Club needed to be widened and the surrounding area should be cleaned up to prevent blockage.
