The Malta Amateur Athletics Association (MAAA) council this week expressed its serious concern at the frequent flooding which the athletics track is becoming increasingly prone to and hope that a solution will be found soon.

Last week's deluge, with the rushing water levels reaching almost six feet high, caused damage to the recently resurfaced track and track and field equipment. As a consequence, athletes won't be able to make use of the track facilities for a number of weeks.

The MAAA is also worried that with such frequent flooding it is impossible to plan and invest further in sports facilities at the Marsa Sports Complex.
