The Edinburgh Quartet, one of the UK's foremost ensembles, will be performing in St Martin's College Drama Troupe's adaptation of "The Little Sweep".
Produced in collaboration with the British Council, the musical is being performed at the Manoel Theatre between October 3-5, under the direction of Lorraine Aquilina and Kurt Cini.
The quartet - Charles Mutter and Philip Burrin on violin, Michael Beeston, viola and Mark Bailey cello - is the resident ensemble of the Ian Tomlin School of Music at Napier University, Edinburgh.
In "The Little Sweep", the quartet will be performing together with local musicians Lucia Micallef, Davinia Galea and Renzo Spiteri, while Mro Alan Chircop will be conducting the chamber orchestra.
Singing alongside Drama Troupe's most promising performers, are experienced singers Gillian Zammit, Claire Massa and Albert Buttigieg.
The production consists of two acts. Malcolm Galea rewrote the first act, which is set in modern times, and shows the preparation for the production of the opera "The Little Sweep", which is performed in the second act.
The opera is the touching tale of how a young boy, who was sold to work as a chimney sweep, is befriended by a group of children who plan to help him escape from his cruel life.
The music is by well-known composer Benjamin Britten with lyrics by Eric Crozier.
