Sexual health policy

Malta was working on its first national sexual health policy, which included proposals for a review of sex education in schools and surveillance of major sexually transmitted infections including HIV, Foreign Minister Joe Borg said.

He was speaking on Monday at the HIV/Aids high level meeting in New York.

The policy would also emphasise the need for specific legislation to address problems such as discrimination in employment opportunities and other basic human rights.

Dr Borg said the problem of HIV/Aids was relatively contained on the island.
