In a balanced match against Ta' Xbiex Mermaids Paradise, the score remained pegged on a 3-3 scoreline for long stretches before goals late in the last session swung the the pendulum first one way and then the other.
Exiles went into a 2-1 lead in the opening quarter, but Ta' Xbiex reversed the scoreline in the second part of the game. The Sliema team's wastefulness on man-ups prevailed as they frittered chances on no fewer than six successive occasions.
Ta' Xbiex went ahead for the first time almost three minutes into the last quarter, but Exiles soon equalised only to earn themselves a salvo 53 seconds from the end and with that a place in the last four of the competition.
