Alternattiva Demokratika said yesterday it had been assured by European Commission officials that as an acceding country, Malta was eligible for funding from the solidarity fund in view of the storm damage incurred over the last few days.

The fund was established after the flooding in Germany last year.

AD said the funding could be obtained through the department known as DG Region but the extent of the aid depended on the way the claims were motivated and documented by the Maltese government.
