Riders raise funds for needy boy

The Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi (ASM) has raised Lm1,200 for Gozitan five-year-old John Paul Attard who needs urgent hospital treatment in Britain.

The funds were raised at a special weekend racing programme in Xewkija.

The activity included an address by Xewkija Archpriest Carm Mercieca after which various events were held in a field at Ta' Hamet which was converted into a race track. The events included Motocross racing and demonstrations by go-carts.

ASM president Frans Deguara presented mementos to those present, including Anthony Borg, head of the Gozo Ministry's secretariat, and Monica Vella, mayor of Xewkija.

He also presented the funds that were collected during the event to Fr Mercieca who handed them over to the Attard family.
