Waterspouts north of Armier and off Ramla Bay caught the attention of photographers on Saturday afternoon.

Photographer Ben Borg Cardona said this waterspout was seen off Armier at around 3 p.m. and lasted for half an hour. Another one was spotted at around 7.30 p.m. a short distance away. Photography buff Corrine Muscat caught a waterspout off Ramla l-Hamra in her camera lens at around 6.30 p.m. She said it disappeared about 15 minutes later. A spokesman for the Meteorological Office said waterspouts were relatively common. They were caused by vertical currents within thunderclouds which caused a vortex and became visible when they drew in water, or solid objects if they touched land.
