A Birkirkara man was yesterday jailed for a total of two-and-a-half years for stealing tools during the operative time of two suspended jail terms.
Joseph Attard, 45, was found guilty of stealing tools belonging to Osea Micallef from SylveMarie Debono's Birkirkara house on March 8 and causing over Lm10 damage at the house.
He was also found guilty of committing the crimes during the operative time of two suspended jail terms and relapsing.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti heard how Micallef owed Attard money but instead of taking civil action against Micallef, Attard took his tools from Debono's house, where Micallef was carrying out some works.
The magistrate found Attard guilty and jailed him for six months. He also ordered the execution of the two suspended jail terms bringing the total jail term to two and a half years.
